For this week Healthy Monday I will be talking about Green Tea. You might have seen Green tea around in most café’s around the world, Starbucks, Costa coffee and lot of places. Did you know that Green Tea is actually really good for our health.
Green Tea originates in China and it has made it’s way to most western countries, Green tea is made from the leaves of Camellia Sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during the processing .
Studies have found that Green Tea drinkers may have lower risk of developing heart disease and certain types of cancer.
Can Green Tea make me loose weight? : No, if you’re looking for a quick weight lost solution then Green Tea is not the answer may be should look into a gym membership, Zumba or even daily walk to the park instead. Green Tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss.
How I totally like my Tea: Use one tea bag, place the tea bag in the cup, pour heated water into a cup and leave the tea bag in there for 3 minutes and then remove the tea bag. If you prefer you can add some honey or sugar in you tea to give it sweeter taste.
How many cups of Tea should I have per day? As many as you like but realistically around 3-4 cups per day. Did you know that Green tea contains antioxidant which help prevent damage from free radicals which cause ageing.
My recent favourite Green tea that I like is Starbucks China Green tips (Image above). I find the taste is really fresh and can be strong if I leave it in there for longer.
Side Effects: The only side effect from drinking Green tea is Insomnia due the face that it contains caffeine. However Green tea contains less caffeine than your ordinary tea and coffee.
